My son participated in the Avignon Theater program through EIL this past summer. What a wonderful experience! For part of the summer, Ryan lived with a host family just outside of Avignon. He was enchanted by the family and loved the experience of living in a French village. EIL gave him plenty of time to "experience" his host family, while arranging organized trips to for theater performances and other activities in Avignon.
The second part of the summer was spent in Paris preparing for a theater production in which the whole group participated. Of course, he loved his time in Paris--both working on the play and seeing the city.
He came home with incredible skills in French--he tells me that after 4 weeks in France his ability to speak French has improved so much. Before EIL he wasn't totally convinced that he would continue with French in school through his senior year. Now he is not only taking French through the end of high school, but is specifically looking at colleges with exceptional French programs.
And finally I know he made life-long friends with the other students on the trip and with his group leader. I cannot recommend this program and EIL highly enough. Truly the best.
