Health and Safety
Ensuring your child's health and safety is the most important thing we do each summer. We take the following steps to insure that every Experiment summer abroad program is as safe as possible:
- Pre-program Materials. We send you materials and information about your host country and the best ways to prepare for a safe, healthy experience. For all programs in Africa, The Americas, Asia and the Pacific, we send you health guidelines. These guidelines include recommendations about immunizations and medications your family should consider before departure.
- Supervised International Travel. International airfare is included in the cost of all Experiment programs (with the exception of Navajo Nation and Mexico). These international flights are supervised by trained adult Experiment group leaders.
- Insurance. Each student is covered by a basic health insurance and emergency evacuation insurance.
- Group Leader. Each group is accompanied by a trained adult group leader who travels and lives with each group. Our group leaders work closely with each student, our in-country partner office, and The Experiment office in Vermont 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Keeping your child safe and healthy is their top priority.
- In-country partner. Each Experiment group is supported by an extensive professional network of in-country support. Our partner offices help us build each program and support our groups while abroad. These in-country experts access communications, health-care, and transportation infrastructure to make sure that each student receives the highest quality attention and support possible.
- Summer office support. During our summer program cycle, a full-time Experiment staff member is on-call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to support US families and our groups overseas.
