During your three-day orientation in Paris, become an expert at negotiating the Metro, visit the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre, and meander down the Champs Elysées. Practice French while visiting local vendors to buy bread, fruit, and cheese for a picnic lunch.
The Summer of Chocolate
Spend four delicious weeks exploring French culture through chocolate. Following orientation in Paris, spend two weeks with a French family. Practice your French language skills as you get together with your group to explore the surrounding communities, visit a confectionery and sample local candies. After bidding adieu to your new family, study at a famous pastry school to learn about chocolate making, work with chocolatiers, and design your own flavors. Your sweet adventure concludes with a few days of travel to Lyon and the world’s chocolate capital of Bruges, Belgium.
Sample host communities: Perpignan, Montélimar
Sample activities: Meet artisan chocolatiers; sample ganaches,truffles, and mendiants; experiment with sweet and savory ingredients to create your own chocolate; explore the museums, theaters, and medieval architecture of Bruges, Belgium.
