France: A Festival of Theater Program
Orientation in Paris
During your three-day orientation in Paris, become an expert at negotiating the Metro, visit the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre, and meander down the Champs Elysées. Practice French while visiting local vendors to buy bread, fruit, and cheese for a picnic lunch.
A Festival of Theater
Experience the beauty and creativity of French theater. Your journey begins with a visit to the renowned Comédie Française in Paris. Following orientation, spend 17 days with a French family as you enjoy the world-famous Avignon Theater Festival. At the end of your program, a weeklong theater seminar in Paris prepares you and your group to perform your own play - entirely in French!
Sample host communities: L’Isle sur la Sorgue, Avignon
Sample activities: Take in performances at the Avignon Theater festival; canoe the Sorgue River; visit an ancient Roman ampitheatre in Arles; learn the art of mime with a protégé of Marcel Marceau; work with a French director to create your own performance.
