Orientation in Tokyo
Spend your first few days exploring exciting Tokyo. Working with Japanese experts and your group leader, delve into the world of Japanese
language and culture while navigating the metro, visiting akihabara and diverse neighborhoods, sampling local foods, and discussing cultural differences.
Japanese Language and Cultural Adventure
Following your Tokyo orientation, spend three weeks immersed in Japanese language and culture. As a beginning, intermediate, or advanced student, you take Japanese language classes and engage in hands-on cultural activities. As a member of a Japanese family, your language skills improve quickly as you embrace daily life. Excursions with your group and host family give you a broader sense of Japanese culture and traditions. Your experience concludes with a few days in ancient Kyoto and a final overnight in Tokyo.
Sample activities: Stroll through traditional Japanese gardens; practice Zen meditation; perfect the art of Japanese flower arrangement; watch sumo wrestling; practice your kanji while you learn the intricacies of Japanese calligraphy; visit a Japanese high school; learn the art of ai indigo-dying.
Sample host communities: Komatsu, Kanazawa, Matsuyama, Tokushima, Konosu, Okayama, Muroran, Shiraoi, Higashikawa, Urausu
